Mark the spot

What a week it has been - huge blister appearing on my lip, a Hong Kong trip that was more of catching up and dining on the best seafood available, shopping for a new phone, enduring another earthshaking spat in the office, a changing of the guards in the office and now, off to a trip to the land of the durian.

Scholarship news will come mid-April as we have been told. Cannot wait for my rebirth to come into fruition! I continue to hope!

GREAT HOPE

Everywhere I looked smacked of class. The British had always exuded a certain form of refinement and elegance which I hope I will acquire. If Sabrina had to go to France to be "cultured", then I shall do the same in London! Cheers to a GREAT Year ahead (I hope!)!

The Birthday Gift

My birthday week (yes we just don't celebrate birthdays but weeks) turned out to be a whole lot of fun and laughter --- a reunion with my Senate friends, an overnight stay in a resort full of heritage houses, a pakain in the office pantry, a dinner with 3 good friends, a fundraising event for a law school classmate running for party list representative, a half day MCLE, a visit to the hospital where a cousin with cancer is confined, dinner with relatives and tonight will be dinner with my siblings. The best way to cap it all off is to have a new Pope named during my natal day itself.

The best gift I received was to be able to pray to the Nazareno which was to be moved back on the 13th. Happiness engulfed me that time so much so that I wanted to cry right there and then. God does work in mysterious ways and I am thankful that He has chosen to be merciful and gracious towards me.

Thank you Lord for 39 years! Onwards to the future!

Attitude

"How you imagine the world determines how you live in it." - David Suzuki

I hate it for a fact that the prime motivation for coming to work is sustenance, that is the need to maintain a certain lifestyle.

With more experience comes the dawning that I really dislike the fact that money becomes a factor in my choice of work. So was I saddened that I did not obtain an increment ad only got a small bonus? Well, I was more upset for the people who did not get any at all. I have seen them work hard all year round and thought that at the very least the company should have provided a reward for their efforts. Just goes to show that not all employers are equal. Not all of them care enough for their employees.

Here's to returning to my roots. The so- called simple but fulfilling life.
