C'est la vie!

Fatigue does set in after too many jaunts (Bremen, Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, Hannover, Schwerin, Lubeck, Berlin) so much so that the blog has been gathering dust for a month. Too many celebrations have been left unrecorded (most important of which was my disappearance from the calendar!). As they say, time is gold and it seems that I do not have a large reserve of it right now. So what has jolted me from my indolent lifestyle? It is the receipt of news, a mixture of both good and bad. The good starts with a close friend giving birth to a baby girl while another is set to sail for really greener pastures in NYC. Still another has done a MacArthur and returned to the job she really loved. A younger sibling has received a great lesson in perseverance while the somehow older one has developed into a more confident man of the world. The bad revolves around a friend's quest for her version of the holy grail which has been foiled for the nth time. And rejections (whether in the social or professional kind) really do hurt, the affirmation of which has been more frequent. The worse story of the lot involves again [sigh =(] the never ending saga of my country's descent into the abyss. A personally known corrupt official has just been promoted to the highest echelons of the judicial institution. The only thing I can do is just mourn and celebrate these things at the same time.
Only two months left for me to enjoy the land of the Aryans. After having experienced a boring academic life of 8 years and a fretful first semester here, I have done a complete turnaround and left everything to the fates. No more burning the midnight oil lest my vision suffers. The more important thing is "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." (2 Timothy 4:7)
